Project: Windows to build a Sogolo

BACKGROUND

Education is an essential value for the achievement of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To eradicate poverty, end hunger, have health and well-being, achieve gender equality, reduce inequalities, make communities sustainable… the development of a QUALITY EDUCATION (SDG No. 4) is necessary. The UN has focused its efforts in recent years on full schooling in the primary education stage, that all children in the world are in school.

PROJECT SCOPE

This project is supported by SDG No. 4:

“Ensure inclusive, equitable and quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”

Within SDG targets No. 4:

“Build and adapt educational facilities that take into account the needs of children and people with disabilities and gender differences, and that provide safe, non-violent, inclusive and effective learning environments for all”

From Mnkhanya School in Zambia’s Luangwa Valley, we are asked for help in meeting three basic needs: 1.- crystals for school windows. They don’t have crystals, and when it rains, all children have to get together in the middle of the classroom so they don’t get wet. You can’t teach the class without the resources you need to be dry and be able to learn. 2.- drinking water for baths. The Community has built some toilets with the help of the government, but the well has collapsed. They have to go to the jungle to do their basic needs, with the risk of possible attacks by wild animals near their homes. 3.- notebooks and pens. Basic material to develop your learning. Essential.
